Fort Caroline National Memorial 12713 Fort Caroline Road - Arlington Phone: (904)641-7155 French Huguenots landed at this site in 1564, establishing the first Protestant colony in North America. Today, the park encompasses 680 acres and includes a replica of the original fort memorializing the colony of "la Caroline." On the banks of the St. Johns River, facilities include visitor center with exhibits, films and bookstore, a reconstructed fort exhibit, French and Native American artifacts, nature trail and picnic area.

Veterans Memorial Wall 1145 East Adams Street - Downtown The largest of its kind, this memorial wall was constructed of black granite and was dedicated November, 1995, in "proud remembrance and humble tribute" to the veterans who fought in WWI, WWII, the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. This is believed to be the only wall that lists veterans from all six branches of service including the Merchant Marines.
Yellow Bluff Fort Off New Berlin Road South - Near Dames Point Bridge (904)251-2323 Constructed in 1862 by Confederate troops to prevent Union gunboats from attacking Jacksonville, the fort did not see extensive action during the war. This is a state historic site.
